Examinations
Challenging the CFSC, CRFSC & OHEC exams without the Course:
Students with a good sound practical knowledge of the five non-restricted firearm actions may wish to study the student handbook on their own, and simply challenge the non-restricted exam.
Similarly students with a good sound practical knowledge of restricted handguns may wish to study the student handbook on their own, and simply challenge the restricted exam.
Since both the non-restricted and restricted exams include not only a written portion but a practical portion as well, a good working knowledge of handling firearms is a must. As such both courses are highly recommended.
Ontario residents applying for their first Ontario licence to hunt, and residents who cannot provide proof of having held a hunting licence after January 1, 1968, must complete Ontario's Hunter Education Course (OHEC) and pass the examination. However, a new Ontario resident, who can provide proof of resident hunting licence accreditation from any jurisdiction, may challenge the OHEC examination without taking the course. If unsuccessful, the course must be taken before attempting the exam again.Challenge Exam Fees
